Garmin MARQ Aviator (Gen 3) Pilot's Watch

Starting from 3.150 €

The Garmin MARQ Aviator (Gen 3) is an exceptional connected watch designed for pilots and aviation enthusiasts. A member of the third generation of the MARQ collection, it is the line’s flying-focused variant, bringing to the wrist a slice of the tools found in a modern cockpit: aeronautical charts, METAR/TAF weather, Direct-To navigation to the nearest airport and a synced flight logbook. Its luxury tool-watch styling rests on a 24-hour bezel and a GMT hand, a deliberate nod to classic pilot’s watches. Connected via LTE and satellite, it is aimed at aviators, frequent travellers and high-end technology enthusiasts.

Garmin MARQ Aviator (Gen 3) pilot’s watch

Garmin first made its name with navigation products and consumer electronics before extending its expertise to connected watchmaking with the MARQ collection. This third generation of luxury tool watches was announced on 13 October 2026, with orders opening on garmin.com on 5 November 2026.

This new family brings together six models, each dedicated to a world of its own: Adventurer, Athlete, Aviator, Commander, Diver and Golfer. The Diver replaces the Captain, while the previous generation remains in the catalogue. The Aviator stays true to its purpose, accompanying pilots and travellers with functions drawn directly from the brand’s aeronautical ecosystem. Alongside the Commander and the Diver, it sits at the top of the collection’s price range, which starts at €2,550 with the Athlete.

Compared with the Gen 2, the step forward is clear. The case grows from 46 to 47 mm, the display from 1.2 to 1.4 inches, battery life gains two days, and LTE and satellite connectivity now feature across the whole range. One detail marks the brand’s signature: the caseback is engraved with the coordinates of Garmin’s headquarters in Olathe, Kansas. In spirit, this pilot’s watch sits close to the brand’s other line, the D2 Mach.

The Garmin MARQ Aviator (Gen 3) pilot’s watch

The Garmin MARQ Aviator (Gen 3) is not a mechanical watch: it is a GPS, LTE and inReach satellite connected watch, with no timekeeping movement of its own. Yet it borrows the visual grammar of classic pilot’s watches. Its polished black ceramic bezel, marked with a UTC/24h scale, pairs with a dedicated GMT hand that tracks a second time zone, a useful feature for pilots and for travellers living between two zones. At the centre, the borderless 1.4-inch AMOLED display is the largest ever fitted to a MARQ. It shows dynamic aeronautical charts, METAR/TAF aviation weather and Direct-To navigation to the nearest airport, a valuable function in case of the unexpected.

An HSI indicator, personal minimums, a barometric altimeter and a pulse oximeter round out a set of features built around the pilot. Outside the cockpit, the watch remains a versatile tool. It carries preloaded maps of the whole world, a speaker, microphone and LED flashlight, and promises up to 18 days of battery life. inReach connectivity keeps the wearer reachable without a phone, provided there is an active subscription. The flight logbook syncs with flyGarmin, and the watch is PlaneSync compatible, which naturally folds it into the brand’s aeronautical ecosystem. It therefore speaks as much to pilots as to enthusiasts of high-end tool watches. Its indicative price of €3,150 reflects this exceptional positioning.

Titanium, sapphire and ceramic for a flight instrument

The MARQ Aviator (Gen 3) is built around a grade 5 titanium case, a material shared across the whole third generation. Its dimensions, 47 mm in diameter and 15 mm thick, make it an imposing watch, better suited to larger wrists and difficult to slip under a cuff. Sapphire crystal covers the display, while the polished black ceramic bezel adds a touch of shine and recalls pilot’s GMT watches. Comfort is handled by a padded calfskin leather strap, closed with a deployant clasp and fitted to 22 mm QuickFit lugs that make swapping it out easy. An additional rubber strap comes with the watch, better suited to sport or wet days.

On the water resistance side, the watch is rated to 10 ATM, allowing recreational diving down to 40 m, with buttons that are themselves water resistant. It is not a dedicated dive watch as such, but it has nothing to fear from everyday water exposure. Legibility benefits from the large, borderless AMOLED panel, and the built-in LED flashlight makes night-time checks easier in a dark cockpit. One caveat remains: the satellite link is not intended for use in flight. The model’s spirit stays that of a luxury tool watch, fully embracing its dual identity as digital instrument and pilot’s watch.

Garmin MARQ Aviator (Gen 3) pilot’s watch: the connected flight instrument

The Garmin MARQ Aviator (Gen 3) brings together a 47 mm grade 5 titanium case, a sapphire crystal and a polished black ceramic bezel marked with a UTC/24h scale, paired with a dedicated GMT hand. Its borderless 1.4-inch AMOLED display shows aeronautical charts, METAR/TAF weather, Direct-To navigation, an HSI indicator and a barometric altimeter. Connected via LTE and inReach satellite, subject to subscription, it offers up to 18 days of battery life and 10 ATM of water resistance. Supplied on a padded calfskin leather strap with a deployant clasp, it comes with an additional rubber strap.

01

Movement

The MARQ Aviator (Gen 3) contains no timekeeping movement at all: it is a GPS, LTE and inReach satellite connected watch. There is therefore no calibre to report. The onboard electronics handle dynamic aeronautical charts, METAR/TAF weather, the HSI indicator, the barometric altimeter and the pulse oximeter, along with preloaded maps of the whole world. Battery life reaches up to 18 days, two more than the previous generation. The LTE and satellite functions require an active subscription, and the satellite link is not intended for use in flight.

Diameter and materials

The grade 5 titanium case measures 47 mm in diameter and 15 mm thick, one millimetre more in diameter than the previous generation. Sapphire crystal covers a borderless 1.4-inch AMOLED display, the largest ever fitted to a MARQ. The polished black ceramic bezel, marked with a UTC/24h scale, works with the dedicated second time zone hand. This imposing size underlines the Aviator’s tool-watch character but suits it better to larger wrists.

Water resistance

The Aviator (Gen 3) offers 10 ATM of water resistance. Like every model in the third MARQ generation, it allows recreational diving down to 40 m and has water resistant buttons. It is not meant to replace a dedicated dive watch, but this protection lets it face water sports, rain or a pool session during a trip without worry. For a pilot’s watch, this level of water resistance offers a comfortable margin, well beyond a pilot’s usual everyday needs.

Accessories

The watch comes on a padded calfskin leather strap closed with a deployant clasp. The 22 mm QuickFit lugs allow the strap to be swapped quickly. An additional rubber strap comes with the watch, better suited to sporting activities and wet environments. This pairing covers everyday wear, in flight or in town, as well as more active outings. The rest of the box contents is worth checking at the time of purchase.
