The Super Diver nonetheless retains the spirit of the Slow Motion. The case, 14.515 mm thick, gains 1.3 mm over the steel Automatic 46 to house an inner soft iron case, which shields the movement from the effects of magnetic fields. The caseback is screwed down, as is the crown with its two gaskets, and the whole assembly withstands a pressure of 100 bar. The bidirectional rotating bezel is the model’s other signature. To prevent any accidental movement underwater, it locks via a catch set on the left flank of the case, allowing the diver to fix their timing reference. The movement is the Breitling 10 calibre, automatic winding, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offering a power reserve of around 42 hours.
Comfort has not been overlooked. Thanks to the titanium, the watch stays lighter than its steel equivalent despite its generous diameter, and the deployant clasp micro-adjusts over 15 mm so it can be worn over a lycra suit or wetsuit.
