Elliot Brown Ltd was born from the meeting of Ian Elliot and Alex Brown, two veterans of the extreme sports watch world, who opened their doors in March 2013 at Lake Yard, a working boatyard in Poole, Dorset. The Canford and Bloxworth collections were the brand's first two lines, unveiled at the very first London Watch Show. Since then, the brand has designed its watches in the UK, relies on specialist suppliers for manufacturing, sources Swiss or Japanese movements which it reinforces for intensive use, and handles after-sales service in its own workshops in Poole.
This tool-watch culture has earned the brand real recognition within the British military world. The Holton Professional, the first watch designed from scratch for the UK special forces, is now issued by the government, and Elliot Brown remains the only watchmaking company to hold the Armed Forces Covenant Gold Award. The brand also holds two patents, one relating to the Beachmaster complication, the other to its strap buckle.
Launched in 2021, the Bloxworth Heritage Diver takes its name from a Dorset locality near the brand's headquarters, as do Canford, Kimmeridge and Arne. It translates the heritage of 1950s and 1960s sports divers into a contemporary format: a compact case, a domed sapphire crystal, a precise ceramic bezel and a woven-texture dial derived from the house shield, a motif also found on the rubber strap and the compressor-style caseback. The 929-110 Orange showcases the brand's signature orange, with a wave-textured dial, a blue-grey chapter ring and applied hour markers filled with C3 SuperLuminova: it is the only version to forgo the sandwich dial, and is offered as a limited edition while stocks last. The 929-103 Chalk Blue plays a more classic card, with a textured sandwich dial in deep blue, Purbeck stone-toned lume inspired by the local stone, and a yellow tip on the seconds hand. The 929-102 Gunmetal finally adopts a dark bead-blasted case with an almost ceramic finish, paired with a black sandwich dial and tungsten-toned, sand-filled hands.
