Founded in Switzerland in 1884 by watchmaker Christian Ruefli-Flury, Edox has more than a century of watchmaking expertise. The brand has developed a particularly strong reputation in the field of water-resistant and professional diving watches. In 1961, Edox introduced the Delfin, soon nicknamed the “Water Champion” thanks to a construction capable of withstanding depths of 200 metres. The watch notably introduced a double O-ring system, combined with a reinforced caseback to improve water resistance and shock protection. In 1965, Edox further developed its diving expertise with the Hydro-Sub, offering water resistance to a depth of 500 metres. These technical innovations have played a major role in shaping the brand's identity in the field of aquatic watches. Edox diving models are designed with robustness, legibility and resistance to demanding underwater conditions in mind. The brand also continues to use some of its historic water-resistance solutions in modern generations of the Delfin collection. Its expertise extends from traditional dive watches to timepieces designed for aquatic environments and extreme activities. Edox therefore continues a Swiss watchmaking tradition combining technical performance, sporty design and a strong maritime heritage.
