Diving watch Certina DS SUPER PH2000M

Starting from 1.390 €

The Certina DS SUPER PH2000M is an extreme diving watch engineered to withstand depths of 2,000 metres. As the first PH model from the brand to reach this level of water resistance, it extends the legacy of the DS concept introduced in 1959 and Certina’s professional diving watches of the 1960s. Its 43 mm Grade 2 titanium case, ceramic bezel, and new DS Concept Extreme Shock Resistance architecture underline its uncompromising technical focus. The black dial with orange accents prioritises legibility, while the automatic Powermatic 80.611 calibre delivers an 80-hour power reserve. Supplied with both a titanium bracelet and a second rubber strap, it combines endurance, versatility, and the true character of a professional tool watch.

Certina DS SUPER PH2000M Dive Watch

Certina has a long-standing relationship with aquatic environments and instruments designed for harsh conditions. The DS name, for Double Security, appeared in 1959, referring to a reinforced construction designed to better protect the movement against shocks, humidity, and everyday wear and tear. In the 1960s, the PH series established the brand as a manufacturer of robust dive watches, while the DS-2 Super PH1000M of 1970 took this quest for endurance to 1,000 meters. The DS SUPER PH2000M extends this progression by doubling this historic threshold to reach 2,000 meters.

The PH designation refers to hydrostatic pressure, directly related to water density, gravity, and depth. This model, therefore, does more than simply adopt the aesthetics of a dive watch: its architecture is designed to withstand extreme pressure. Certina combines a grade 2 titanium case, a ceramic bezel, a sapphire crystal, and the new generation DS Concept Extreme Shock Resistance. The model also maintains immediate legibility thanks to large luminescent markers and Super-LumiNova BG W9 with a blue-tinted emission.

The collection comprises four interpretations: black with orange details, white with a blue bezel, yellow with a black bezel, and gradient turquoise with a black bezel for the DS SUPER PH2000M STC. This last model, created in collaboration with the Sea Turtle Conservancy, is limited to 1,959 pieces. All share the Powermatic caliber 80.611, the Nivachron balance spring, and an 80-hour power reserve, giving the range a consistent identity as a modern, technical tool watch deeply rooted in Certina's underwater heritage.

Powermatic 80 and 2,000-Metre Water Resistance

At the heart of the Certina DS SUPER PH2000M beats the Powermatic 80.611, a Swiss automatic calibre developed on an ETA base. Its main advantage lies in its power reserve, which can reach 80 hours. A fully wound watch can therefore remain unworn for around three days without requiring the time to be reset. The movement also features a Nivachron™ hairspring, a titanium-based alloy designed to better withstand magnetic fields, temperature fluctuations, ageing, and shocks. This solution enhances the reliability expected from a tool watch built for everyday use.

The stated 2,000-metre water resistance is naturally its most striking feature. It places this Certina far beyond the requirements of recreational diving and reflects a clear focus on extreme pressure resistance. The ceramic bezel, luminous markers, and the diving extension integrated into the clasp complete its functional equipment. The quick-change system also makes it easy to switch from one strap to another. The black version comes with an adjustable titanium bracelet and a second rubber or fabric strap, depending on the version. The former offers a more refined watchmaking appearance and visual continuity with the case, while the latter is more flexible for sporty or aquatic use. The titanium clasp features a diver’s extension. This dual configuration enhances the versatility of a substantial watch genuinely designed to transition seamlessly between everyday wear and the marine environment.

The Extreme Diving Watch: Certina DS SUPER PH2000M

The Certina DS SUPER PH2000M adopts a spectacular construction without sacrificing readability or balance. Its 43 mm case has a thickness of 16 mm, giving it substantial proportions that reflect its exceptional water resistance. The use of Grade 2 titanium helps reduce the feeling of weight while providing excellent corrosion resistance, a natural advantage for a watch intended for marine environments. The stated weight of 170 g remains comfortable on the wrist, especially considering the size of the case and the presence of a metal bracelet.

The black version combines a deep black dial, a black ceramic bezel, and orange accents applied to the hands, indexes, and scale markings. This combination adds depth to the overall design while making essential information easier to identify. The luminous elements use Super-LumiNova BG W9, whose blue glow improves readability in darkness. The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal featuring an anti-reflective coating on one side. The watch also benefits from the new DS Concept Extreme Shock Resistance architecture. It relies on a reinforced caseback, an O-ring seal on the winding stem, an ultra-thin dial support, and a dedicated movement support. This construction is designed to preserve mechanical stability under shocks and high levels of stress. With its imposing design, orange highlights, and exceptional water resistance, the DS SUPER PH2000M fully embraces its role as a contemporary professional diving watch.
