Traska Freediver Dive Watch
Founded in 2018 in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, Traska is an independent watch brand built around a simple philosophy: creating robust mechanical watches that combine vintage-inspired styling with modern engineering and genuine everyday practicality. The Freediver occupies a special place within the collection, as it was the company's very first model. It established Traska's design language and introduced many of the technical solutions that continue to define the brand today, particularly its emphasis on durability and scratch resistance.
The Freediver draws clear inspiration from classic dive watches of the 1960s. Its double-domed sapphire crystal recalls the appearance of vintage acrylic crystals, while the slim proportions, polished bevels and finely machined bezel create a refined tool-watch aesthetic. Rather than simply recreating a vintage design, Traska combines these historical cues with modern specifications, including a hardened stainless steel case, a ceramic bezel insert and 200 metres of water resistance.
Designed for both underwater activities and everyday wear, the Freediver features excellent legibility thanks to its applied indices, diamond-cut hands and Swiss Super-LumiNova. Its balanced 40.5 mm case size makes it comfortable on a wide range of wrists without sacrificing presence. Available in four dial colours and in both date and no-date configurations, the Freediver appeals to enthusiasts looking for a versatile mechanical dive watch that balances vintage character with contemporary performance.

The Traska Freediver Dive Watch
The Traska Freediver embraces the proportions and visual balance that made classic 1960s dive watches so enduring. Its 40.5 mm case diameter and 48 mm lug-to-lug length provide a sporty yet highly wearable profile suitable for everyday use. Overall thickness measures 11.9 mm including the crystal, while the case itself remains only 10.5 mm thick, allowing the watch to slide comfortably beneath a shirt cuff.

The case is machined from 316L stainless steel and receives Traska's proprietary surface-hardening treatment. According to the brand, this process increases surface hardness to approximately 1,200 HV, significantly improving scratch resistance compared to conventional stainless steel. The treatment is also applied to the bracelet, helping preserve the watch's appearance over years of regular wear.
The lacquered dial is available in Carbon Black, Arctic White, Chaouen Blue and Hunter Green. Applied hour markers and diamond-cut hands are filled with Swiss BGW9 Grade A Super-LumiNova to ensure excellent visibility in low-light conditions. Buyers may choose between a perfectly symmetrical no-date layout or a version featuring a discreet date window positioned at six o'clock, allowing the Freediver to suit different aesthetic preferences while maintaining its clean overall design.
A Modern Mechanical Diver Built for Daily Wear
The Freediver is rated to 200 metres (20 ATM) of water resistance. Its screw-down crown uses a triple-gasket sealing system and incorporates a decoupling mechanism that prevents unnecessary movement winding while the crown is being screwed back into position. These features contribute to the watch's reliability during water-based activities.

Its 120-click unidirectional bezel rotates smoothly on ceramic ball bearings and features a polished ceramic insert filled with BGW9 Super-LumiNova, allowing elapsed time to remain readable even in darkness. Above the dial sits a double-domed sapphire crystal that recreates the charm of vintage acrylic while providing excellent scratch resistance. An internal anti-reflective coating further improves legibility under bright light.
Depending on the selected version, the Freediver is powered by either the Miyota 9039 (no date) or the Miyota 9015 (date). Both automatic Japanese movements operate at 28,800 vibrations per hour, feature 24 jewels, hacking seconds, manual winding capability and approximately 42 hours of power reserve. The stainless steel bracelet tapers from 20 mm to 16 mm and features fully articulated solid links together with a six-position tool-free micro-adjustment clasp, ensuring excellent comfort throughout the day.
