Luminox Pacific Diver Chronograph 44 mm dive watch
Luminox was founded in 1989 and now belongs to the Swiss watchmaking group Mondaine. Its history turned a corner in early 1992, when Chief Nick North, a procurement officer for the Navy SEALs, went looking for a wristwatch that would stay legible at night, in hostile territory, without relying on any external light source. His search led him to Luminox and sealed a partnership with one of the most demanding units in the world. That founding episode gave rise to the technical argument that still shapes the brand's entire output: Luminox Light Technology, a self-powered illumination system using micro gas tubes of tritium that glows around the clock, with no recharging, for a stated lifespan of up to twenty-five years.
The Pacific Diver Chronograph belongs to the 3140 series, presented by Luminox as the logical successor to the Pacific Diver 3120. It inherits the diver's DNA, with its large steel case and unidirectional CARBONOX™ rotating bezel, a composite material developed in-house by the brand, but adds a chronograph function with date. The Luminox Pacific Diver Chronograph diver
The Pacific Diver Chronograph makes its instrument credentials clear from the outset. Its 44 mm case in 316L stainless steel stays compact in height at 12 mm thick, a proportion that limits bulk despite the generous diameter and the presence of chronograph pushers. The unidirectional CARBONOX™ rotating bezel, a composite material developed by the brand, offers a deep matte finish and scratch resistance superior to brushed steel, while also lightening the watch compared with a conventional metal bezel. The dial follows classic three-counter chronograph logic, with a date window and tone-on-tone subdials that preserve the legibility of the main display.
This is where the house signature comes in: the hour markers and hands feature permanent Luminox Light Technology illumination, based on self-powered micro tritium gas tubes, stated to provide up to 25 years of continuous brightness. Unlike conventional photoluminescent material, this system does not depend on any prior exposure to light, which makes a real difference during a night dive or in murky water. The anti-reflective sapphire crystal completes this focus on legibility and durably protects the display. All references share the same technical base, 44 mm, calibre RONDA Z60, 200 metres of water resistance, and differ only in three respects: dial and chapter ring colour, strap type, and, for the two newest additions, case finish. The versions on trim-to-fit nitrile rubber play with bold colour: the white 3141, the navy blue 3143, the yellow-accented 3145 and the red 3155, all priced at €725. The 3141.BO.1 takes the opposite approach with a full Blackout treatment on black rubber.
The counterparts on a quick-change 316L steel bracelet repeat the same colour themes on the chapter ring: 3141.M, 3143.M, 3145.M, 3149.M and 3155.M. The 3142 is the most understated version, with a classic black dial and steel bracelet, while the 3144 is the only one in the group to feature a true blue dial. These steel executions retail at €795, with the exception of the orange-ringed 3149.M, priced notably higher by the brand. The new Forest Green (3147) and Graphite Grey (3148) models mark a shift: they are the only ones to receive a black IP-coated steel case and a matching CARBONOX™ bezel, with a forest green or graphite grey dial and matching rubber strap. Luminox positions them explicitly for demanding conditions on land as well as in water.

The case measures 44 mm in diameter and 12 mm thick, with a 24 mm lug width that visually balances the format. It is machined from 316L stainless steel and topped with a unidirectional CARBONOX™ rotating bezel, an in-house composite resistant to impacts and scratches. The anti-reflective sapphire crystal protects a dial available in black, blue, forest green or graphite grey depending on the reference, with a coloured chapter ring. The 3147 and 3148 versions stand apart with a black IP-coated case and matching bezel.
Water resistance
Water resistance reaches 200 metres, or 660 feet, or 20 ATM, a level suited to recreational diving. It relies on a double-gasket screw-down crown flanked by crown guards, and on a screwed 316L steel caseback. The unidirectional rotating bezel allows dive time to be tracked without risk of underestimation, complementing the chronograph. In darkness, the Luminox Light Technology tritium micro-tube illumination ensures immediate reading of the dial and bezel, stated to last up to 25 years.
Accessories
Depending on the reference chosen, the watch is delivered on a nitrile rubber strap or a 316L steel bracelet, always 24 mm at the lug width and secured with a 316L steel buckle. The XS-XL rubber straps use a trim-to-fit design, adjustable to the wrist by simple cutting, while the steel versions feature a quick-change system.
