Founded in 1989, Luminox specializes in rugged watches designed to provide maximum readability in demanding environments. Its name combines Lumi, meaning light, and Nox, meaning night, reflecting the brand’s self-powered Luminox Light Technology. In 1992, Luminox worked with Nick North from the Navy SEALs RDT&E unit to develop a watch specifically for the American special forces. This collaboration became a defining element of the brand’s identity. Luminox later extended its expertise to coast guards, law enforcement agencies, military pilots and professional divers. In 2009, the brand partnered with undersea explorer Scott Cassell. In 2010, Luminox introduced a 500-metre Deep Dive Automatic compliant with the ISO 6425 diving-watch standard. Its SEA and Navy SEAL collections focus on durability, water resistance and permanent visibility. Since 2023, Luminox has also produced watches built to the MIL-PRF-46374G military specification. Today, the Swiss brand remains closely associated with professional diving, special forces and extreme environments.
