Officine Tecniche AQUAS Pugnochiuso Dive Watch

Starting from 1.180 €

The Officine Tecniche AQUAS Pugnochiuso 01 is an Italian dive watch named after a bay on the Gargano promontory. The flagship of the AQUAS line, it combines a 316L steel case measuring 40 mm and water resistant to 300 metres, a sapphire bezel insert and a Swiss automatic La Joux-Perret calibre. Its integrated rice grain bracelet, designed in-house, claims kinship with the integrated-bracelet sports watches of the 1970s. Offered in four versions, with a white-to-black or white-to-blue gradient dial and a crown at 3 o’clock or at 9 o’clock for left-handers, it targets enthusiasts of technical divers and demanding micro-brands. Prices start at 1,180 euros.

Officine Tecniche AQUAS Pugnochiuso dive watch

Officine Tecniche is an Italian micro-brand founded in 2019 in Foggia, in Puglia, by two friends, Luca and Denis, one an engineer, the other coming from the aerospace industry. The house claims a very clear geographic anchoring: its watches are born from the Gargano, Italy’s spur, and each collection borrows its name from a real place in this land. Pugnochiuso is a bay on the Gargano promontory, near Vieste, and gives its name to the most accomplished model in the AQUAS line.

The brand applies a zero-catalogue-component logic: case, crown, hands and bracelet are designed in-house and produced with dedicated moulds, with only the movements bought externally. Two technical signatures run through the range, 316L steel hardened by electroplating up to 1200 HV, said to be up to five times more scratch-resistant than standard steel, and technical HNBR elastomers used for the straps. Officine Tecniche also claims to have developed the first integrated rice grain bracelet, a claim it openly presents as open to challenge.

Within the AQUAS collection, the Pugnochiuso sits at the top. The other models share the same 40 mm case water resistant to 300 m but receive a Japanese movement, whereas the Pugnochiuso is powered by a Swiss La Joux-Perret calibre in a high-grade finish. The wooden box, designed in Italy, extends this positioning, and the design openly claims direct kinship with the integrated-bracelet sports watches of the 1970s.

The Officine Tecniche AQUAS Pugnochiuso dive watch

The AQUAS Pugnochiuso belongs to the family of compact, technical divers. Its 316L stainless steel case, 40 mm in diameter, remains restrained, with a lug-to-lug of 47.5 mm that limits overhang on the wrist. The stated thickness is 10.9 mm excluding the crystal, and 13.6 mm including the sapphire crystal, the difference owing to the pronounced dome of the glass. The steel receives a protective coating hardened up to 1200 HV, meant to resist the micro-scratches that usually mark a watch worn every day. The white-to-black gradient dial plays on a progression from centre to periphery, with green-emitting Super-LumiNova C1 grade A lume on the hour markers and hands.

The unidirectional rotating bezel with 120 clicks receives a luminescent sapphire insert, a rare solution at this price point and a guarantee of durability against sand and salt. Water resistance reaches 300 metres, ensured by a signed screw-down crown and a three-dimensionally stamped screw-down caseback. Inside, a Swiss Made-labelled automatic without a date: the Pugnochiuso favours pure legibility and a dial free of a date window. The result sits somewhere between a water watch and an everyday watch, weighing around 130 grams on the steel bracelet and a little over 100 grams on rubber.

Four versions and an integrated rice grain bracelet

The Pugnochiuso comes in four versions that strictly share the same architecture. The 01 receives a white-to-black gradient dial, the 02 a white-to-blue gradient. The two X variants, 01 X and 02 X, feature the same dials but move the crown to 9 o’clock, a left-handed configuration that few brands offer on a diver in this category. All are priced identically, from 1,180 euros on the steel bracelet alone to 1,290 euros with the additional rubber strap. The bracelet is the other centrepiece of the model. Officine Tecniche has designed an integrated 316L steel rice grain bracelet carrying the same 1200 HV coating as the case, tapering from 20 to 16 mm, with solid screwed links and a technical deployant clasp with quick micro-adjustment.

The brand claims to have developed the first integrated rice grain bracelet and presents this claim as open to discussion. The spirit harks back to the integrated-bracelet sports watches of the 1970s, a lineage the house openly claims in its communication. An additional end-link is offered to fit any standard 20 mm strap, and an integrated black HNBR strap is available as an option to completely change the watch’s look. Delivery comes in a wooden box designed in Italy, consistent with this model’s high-end place within the AQUAS line.

Officine Tecniche AQUAS Pugnochiuso dive watch: hardened steel from Gargano

The AQUAS Pugnochiuso 01 brings together a 40 mm 316L steel case coated to 1200 HV, a sapphire bezel insert and water resistance of 300 metres ensured by a signed screw-down crown and a three-dimensionally stamped screw-down caseback. The domed sapphire crystal receives double anti-reflective treatment, while the white-to-black gradient dial carries Super-LumiNova C1 grade A lume. The Swiss automatic La Joux-Perret LJP-G101 calibre, without a date, finished to A012 Top Grade, offers 68 hours of power reserve. The integrated rice grain bracelet with quick micro-adjustment and the wooden box designed in Italy complete the package.

01

Movement

The Pugnochiuso is powered by a Swiss automatic La Joux-Perret LJP-G101 calibre in its no-date version, a choice that fully clears the dial. It beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a 68-hour power reserve, enough to let the watch rest all weekend without needing to reset the time. The chosen finish is A012 Top Grade Soigné, with Côtes de Genève, diamond-cut finishing and blued screws, a rare level of dressing at this price. The whole is Swiss Made labelled.

Diameter and materials

The case measures 40 mm in diameter with a lug-to-lug of 47.5 mm, proportions that suit most wrists. Thickness is 10.9 mm excluding the crystal and rises to 13.6 mm once the domed sapphire is factored in. Construction relies on 316L stainless steel protected by a coating hardened up to 1200 HV, said to be far more scratch-resistant than bare steel. The bezel insert is sapphire and the dial adopts a white-to-black gradient, or white-to-blue depending on the version.

03

Water resistance

The AQUAS Pugnochiuso offers water resistance of 300 metres, a benchmark figure for a modern diver. It relies on a signed screw-down crown and a three-dimensionally stamped screw-down caseback. The unidirectional rotating bezel with 120 clicks receives a luminescent sapphire insert, a material that withstands friction far better than an aluminium insert. The dial and hands receive green-emitting Super-LumiNova C1 grade A, while the domed sapphire crystal benefits from double anti-reflective treatment that preserves legibility underwater.

04

Accessories

The watch ships on its integrated 316L steel rice grain bracelet, coated to 1200 HV like the case, with solid screwed links tapering from 20 to 16 mm. Its deployant clasp with quick micro-adjustment allows the length to be adjusted throughout the day. An additional end-link permits fitting any standard 20 mm strap, and an integrated black HNBR strap is offered as a paid option. The whole arrives in a wooden box designed in Italy.

Warranty

Officine Tecniche backs every example with a 2-year international warranty, to be activated online after purchase and valid worldwide from the date of purchase. This digital follow-up suits an Italian micro-brand founded in 2019, whose distribution remains limited compared with the established watchmaking giants. The warranty covers the entire model, including case, integrated rice grain bracelet and La Joux-Perret calibre, with no further steps required once registration is completed online.
