Founded in Paris in 2019 by Jérôme Burgert and Gabriel Vachette, the Compagnie des Montres SERICA was built around a simple idea: design in France instruments for measuring time made in Switzerland, in the lineage of military watches and observation watches. The brand's timeline begins with a W.W.W field watch in 2019, continues with the Ref. 4512 in 2020, then the Ref. 5303 dive watch in 2021. In 2023, the entire range moved to certified Swiss chronometer status, ahead of the arrival of the Ref. 1174 Parade shaped watch in 2024.
Presented in October 2022, the Ref. 8315 is the house's third model and its first COSC-certified piece. It applies the SERICA vocabulary to the GMT complication, long locked into codes inherited from airline pilot watches. The Black Enamel version opens the collection; the Sand Red, launched in 2023, introduces a warmer ceramic and, for the first time at SERICA, integrated guilloché end links along with the signed pin buckle. In 2025, the brand completed the line-up with the Expédition steel bracelet, designed natively for this reference. The SERICA Réf. 8315 GMT watch
The Ref. 8315 presents itself as a compact and balanced instrument. Its 39mm 316L steel case stays within the classic proportions of observation watches, with alternating polished-satin finishes and lyre lugs that soften the silhouette. The 46.5mm lug-to-lug keeps the whole within a wearable footprint, even on slim wrists, which clearly sets this model apart from contemporary GMT watches that are often oversized. The watch's singularity comes from its reading of the second time zone. The day/night split is deliberately asymmetric, with the light stretch running from roughly 5:30am to 6:30pm, to make the reading more intuitive. The indication is handled by a round-tipped, white-lacquered Lollipop GMT hand, where convention usually calls for a red or orange arrow. Beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, it offers a 40-hour power reserve and, above all, chronometer certification from COSC. The second time zone is set in one-hour jumps: it is a caller GMT, whose 24h hand is adjusted from the crown without the local hour being independent. The specialist press sees this as the model's main functional limitation, an accepted trade-off given its price positioning.
The collection comprises two versions sold at the same price. The Ref. 8315-1 Black Enamel, released in 2022, pairs a black enamel dial with an ivory and black enamel ceramic bezel. The Ref. 8315-2 Sand Red, released in 2023, offers a dark brown enamel dial with gold accents and an ivory and sand red ceramic insert, in a warmer tone.
