BBGear Impact TLD (Salve 2) Special Forces Watch

Starting from 745 €

The BBGear Impact TLD (Salve 2) is a French tool watch with an unusual format, born from a collaboration between the Toulouse workshop BBGear, Sylvain L’armurier and a community of long-range shooters. The second instalment of the Impact collection, it builds on the Salve 1 base and stands out with its removable steel shield, graduated rangefinder bezel and fourth hand used as a compass. Assembled and tested in France, it combines an automatic movement, anti-reflective sapphire crystal and 200-metre water resistance. Supplied as standard on a steel bracelet with a deployant clasp engraved with ballistic data, it is aimed at shooters, outdoor practitioners and fans of functional rather than decorative military watches.

BBGear Impact TLD (Salve 2) special forces watch

Founded in 2017 in a Toulouse workshop, BBGear grew out of the passion of a French modder known as Billy, whose videos on watch assembly and customisation preceded the brand itself. This origin explains the house’s method: every piece is assembled in France, then subjected to a water resistance test and timing adjustment on a chronocomparator before being shipped. BBGear builds watches designed for use, models meant to be worn hard rather than kept behind glass.

The Impact TLD takes this logic to its conclusion. The model was born from a collaboration between the brand, Sylvain L’armurier and a community of long-range shooters gathered around a dedicated discussion group, which accompanied the project’s development. The Salve 1, the first piece in the Impact collection, was presented as a limited series of one hundred numbered pieces, with a black-treated case and rubber strap. The Salve 2 builds on this base and comes as standard with the steel bracelet and its extendable deployant clasp.

Three tools structure the watch: a rangefinder bezel graduated in ballistic units, a fourth hand acting as a compass, and an engraving on the caseback allowing wind force to be estimated from foliage, tall grass or smoke. The Impact TLD does not simply evoke a military spirit, it is built for those who actually practise.

The BBGear Impact TLD (Salve 2) tactical watch

The Impact TLD (Salve 2) is the second series of a model developed with shooters themselves, and this shows at first glance. Its architecture relies on a removable 316L stainless steel shield that wraps around the case: fitted, the whole displays a 48 mm diameter; removed, the watch drops to 41 mm and changes character completely. Despite this presence, the footprint remains controlled thanks to a 44.6 mm lug-to-lug and a thickness of 13 mm, two figures that allow the case to sit well on average wrists.

The whole weighs 195 g with the shield and steel bracelet, a weight accepted for a watch designed as a field tool. The screw-down crown sits at 10 o’clock, sheltered by the shield and kept away from the back of the hand during shooting positions. Legibility relies on a flat anti-reflective sapphire crystal, a dial with white printing and hands treated with Super-LumiNova C3, which keep their readability at nightfall. Assembled in France, each piece goes through a water resistance test and timing adjustment on a chronocomparator before shipping. The result is an immediately recognisable watch, whose massive silhouette announces its function and which can be stripped down in moments to regain a far more discreet everyday format.

Rangefinder, compass and ballistic data

The purpose of the Salve 2 lies in three tools designed for long-range shooting. The bezel, fitted with an aluminium insert, works as a ballistic rangefinder: it estimates the distance to a target from its actual size, with no additional accessory. The fourth hand, driven by the GMT function of the Seiko NH34 calibre, serves as a compass to quickly take a bearing in isolated terrain. On the back, the screwed and engraved caseback carries an educational table in English that helps estimate wind force by observing foliage, tall grass or smoke.

The deployant clasp with micro-adjustment completes the set: it includes an extension to fit over a thick sleeve and carries the main ballistic measurement units engraved on it, from Mrad to MIL. Supplied as standard with its stainless steel bracelet, the watch adjusts to wrists of 15 to 26 cm and accepts any 22 mm lug-width strap, with BBGear also offering FKM models sold separately. This instrument logic reflects the very spirit of the project, born from exchanges with a community of practitioners rather than a commercial brief. With a 200-metre water resistance, the Salve 2 fears neither rain nor immersion, even though its natural habitat remains the shooting range and outdoor outings.

BBGear Impact TLD (Salve 2) special forces watch: a shooter’s instrument

The Impact TLD (Salve 2) brings together three long-range shooting tools in a single 316L steel case: a rangefinder bezel with aluminium insert, a fourth compass hand driven by the Seiko NH34 calibre, and a caseback engraving dedicated to wind estimation. Its removable shield changes the diameter from 41 to 48 mm depending on use, for 13 mm thickness and 44.6 mm lug-to-lug. Anti-reflective sapphire crystal, Super-LumiNova C3, 200-metre water resistance, steel bracelet with engraved deployant clasp and a 3-year warranty complete this tool watch, assembled in France and priced at 745 euros.

01

Movement

The Salve 2 is powered by the Seiko NH34 calibre, a mechanical automatic movement fitted with a shock-absorption system. It has 24 jewels, allows manual winding and features hacking seconds for precise time-setting. Its 41-hour power reserve covers a night off the wrist, and the stated accuracy stands at −5/+15 seconds per day. Its GMT function is here repurposed to drive the hand acting as a compass. Each watch is adjusted on a chronocomparator by the French workshop before shipping.

Diameter and materials

The case is machined from 316L stainless steel, as is the removable shield and the crown. Fitted, the whole measures 48 mm in diameter; with the shield removed, the watch returns to 41 mm, with 13 mm thickness and a 44.6 mm lug-to-lug. The bezel carries an aluminium insert engraved with rangefinder graduations, while the dial displays luminous white printing under a flat anti-reflective sapphire crystal. This combination gives a watch that looks massive but is adjustable in size according to the day’s use.

03

Water resistance

The Impact TLD (Salve 2) claims 200 m / 20 bar water resistance, ensured by a screw-down crown at 10 o’clock and a screwed, engraved caseback. This level allows for swimming, water activities and exposed outdoor use, well beyond what shooting itself requires. Before shipping, each example undergoes a water resistance test carried out by the workshop. The hands and markings treated with Super-LumiNova C3 round out the package by ensuring clear legibility in darkness.

Accessories

The watch is supplied with its stainless steel bracelet and its deployant clasp with micro-adjustment, fitted with an extension and engraved with ballistic measurement units. Designed for wrists of 15 to 26 cm, it fits a 22 mm lug width, leaving room for the FKM straps sold separately by the brand. The BBGear instructions accompany the watch, and the workshop provides the tools needed to adjust the links at home free of charge.

Warranty

BBGear covers the Impact TLD (Salve 2) with a 3-year warranty, described as a manufacturer’s warranty and detailed in the brand’s general terms of sale. It does not cover damage caused by misuse, such as a crown left unscrewed during immersion. The purchase comes with a 14-day trial with free returns, giving time to assess how the shield feels on the wrist. In-house water resistance and timing tests complete this commitment.
