Sinn EZM 19 Special Forces Watch

Starting from 1.950 €

The Sinn EZM 19 is a mission timer of a new kind: rather than the field, it targets the command post and staff work. Developed with Tomas Stanke, Oberbrandrat and chief of the Hattingen fire brigade, it organises time as much as it measures it, thanks to a captive multifunction rotating bezel that switches the reading from minutes to hours. Its matte black dial abandons the usual twelve-hour logic in favour of four-hour markers differentiated by a colour-coded luminescence. A 41 mm bead-blasted steel case, anti-reflective sapphire crystal, 20 bar water resistance, Ar drying and antimagnetic protection complete this German instrument, offered between 1,950 and 2,300 euros depending on the strap.

Sinn EZM 19 special forces watch

Sinn Spezialuhren was born in Frankfurt am Main in 1961, driven by Helmut Sinn, initially around onboard chronographs designed for aviation. The German house then built a reputation as an instrument workshop, where technique comes before ornament and every function must be justified by genuine professional use.

The Einsatzzeitmesser family, literally mission timers, was born in 1997 with the EZM 1, developed for the Zentrale Unterstützungsgruppe Zoll, the German customs intervention unit, and the EZM 2, dedicated to specialised diving units. The crown placed on the left of the case and in-house technologies, such as Ar drying and TEGIMENT hardening, have become the signature of this series over the decades.

The EZM 19, unveiled on 1 September 2026, marks a clear shift. For the first time, an EZM is not aimed at the field operator but at staff work, that command post where firefighters, police, the Bundeswehr, administration and elected officials coordinate a crisis situation. It was developed with Tomas Stanke, Oberbrandrat and chief of the Hattingen fire brigade, who was already behind the sketch for the EZM 7 designed for firefighters. Sinn is even publishing that concept sketch alongside the production model. Another break with the series’ tradition, the crown here moves to the right of the case. The brand also claims an openly civilian use: meetings, exams, appointment slots or simply parking time.

The Sinn EZM 19 staff watch

The name says it plainly: Einsatzzeitmesser, mission timer. The EZM 19 continues a line of professional instruments, but shifts its point of application. Here, the mission plays out at the command post, where decisions are coordinated under strong time pressure and time management becomes part of operational strategy. The bead-blasted stainless steel case measures 41 mm in diameter for 11.4 mm in height, a fairly compact geometry that slips under the sleeve of an intervention jacket. The weight of 73.6 grams without strap confirms a sober construction, without excess material.

The matte black dial favours immediate reading: numerals, markers and hands receive a luminescent coating, and the hand-applied hybrid ceramic elements offer strong luminous intensity in darkness. The sapphire crystal treated with anti-reflective coating on both sides completes this pursuit of legibility free of stray reflections. The screw-down crown sits on the right of the case, breaking with the EZM series’ usual habit. The function set remains deliberately limited: hours, minutes, seconds, date and rotating bezel, with no chronograph or subdial. Nothing disturbs the glance. Offered between 1,950 and 2,300 euros depending on the chosen strap, the EZM 19 sits above the brand’s entry-level models and below the EZM 13.1.

35-minute scale and four-hour rhythm

The heart of the instrument is its captive bidirectional multifunction rotating bezel, with a minute click, which Tomas Stanke calls the watch’s central element. It allows an instant switch from a minute reading to an hour reading. The 35-minute scale frames the length of a situation briefing, while the four-hour perspective marks the time remaining until the next check-in or the next changeover, following the proven rhythm of four or eight-hour rotations. Its black scratch-resistant TEGIMENT-treated coating protects this key component against the daily wear of operational use. The dial follows the same functional logic.

It abandons the classic twelve-hour reading in favour of distinctive four-hour markers, treated in the same colour as the hour and minute hands, while the other indices and the seconds hand stand apart from them. The date display, positioned at 6 o’clock, plays an orientation role during interventions that stretch over several days and nights. Robustness follows suit. Ar drying keeps away mist and humidity variations, antimagnetic protection reaches 100 mT, or 80,000 A/m, and operation is guaranteed from minus 45°C to plus 80°C. With its 20 bar water resistance compliant with the DIN 8310 standard, its screwed caseback and its resistance to low pressure, the EZM 19 remains a field tool, even one designed for the command tent.

Sinn EZM 19 special forces watch: time under control

A mission timer designed for staff service, the Sinn EZM 19 combines a 41 mm bead-blasted stainless steel case, an automatic SW 300-1 calibre and a captive multifunction rotating bezel that switches from a minute reading to an hour reading. The matte black dial adopts four-hour markers and a colour-coded luminescence, with hand-applied hybrid ceramic elements. Anti-reflective sapphire crystal on both sides, 20 bar water resistance compliant with the DIN 8310 standard, Ar drying, antimagnetic protection up to 100 mT and a service range from minus 45 to plus 80 degrees complete this instrument, guaranteed for three years worldwide.

01

Movement

The EZM 19 runs on the SW 300-1 automatic calibre, fitted with 25 jewels and beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour. It drives the hours, minutes, central seconds and date display, with a hacking seconds function that allows precise time setting. Protection against magnetic fields meets the DIN 8309 standard, an asset against the permanent magnets of tablets, smartphones and their cases. The 56-hour power reserve comfortably covers an extended shift.

Diameter and materials

The bead-blasted stainless steel case measures 41.00 mm in diameter for a height of 11.4 mm and a lug width of 20 mm, with a weight of 73.6 grams without strap. The bead-blasted finish limits reflections, consistent with its purpose as a reading instrument. The sapphire crystal is treated with anti-reflective coating on both sides, while the bezel receives a black scratch-resistant coating combined with TEGIMENT hardening. The matte black dial, the luminescent hybrid ceramic markers and the colour-coded luminescence complete this resolutely functional construction.

03

Water resistance

The EZM 19 claims a water resistance of 20 bars, or 200 metres, compliant with the technical requirements of the DIN 8310 standard. The screwed caseback and screw-down crown ensure the case is sealed, and the watch is also stated to be resistant to low pressure, which extends its use to air travel and altitude. Ar drying adds to this protection by keeping away condensation during repeated transitions from indoors to outdoors, a common situation under a command tent.

Accessories

The configuration shown by the brand pairs a solid bead-blasted steel bracelet with a fine length adjustment, very useful when the wrist swells over a long shift. The watch is stated to be configurable, with a leather or textile strap and a silicone strap available as options, for a 20 mm lug width. Sinn does not detail the contents of the delivered box, but makes the technical sheet, product information and instructions available for download on the model’s page.

Warranty

Sinn Spezialuhren grants the EZM 19 a 3-year manufacturer warranty, valid worldwide and running from the invoice date, covering material and manufacturing defects. The water resistance warranty is limited to 24 months. Excluded are damages linked to improper use, repairs carried out outside the authorised network, external factors such as knocks and impacts, and natural wear, notably that of the strap. Transport costs are governed by the brand’s own terms.
