BOLDR Venture Field Medic Military

Starting from 264 €

The BOLDR Venture Field Medic is a military field watch designed for caregivers and emergency professionals. Born in spring 2020 amid the Covid-19 pandemic, this Venture variant pairs a 38mm titanium case with a Japanese meca-quartz chronograph and two scales printed on the dial: a pulsometer calibrated over thirty pulsations and a respiratory scale. Light, water resistant to 200 metres and protected by a flat anti-reflective sapphire crystal, it works as well in a treatment room as on a bivouac. Offered in seven dial versions, from matte black to camouflage, it donates part of its sale price to charitable funds. A genuine tool watch at an accessible price.

BOLDR Venture Field Medic military watch

BOLDR Supply Company is a microbrand based in Singapore and founded by Leon Leong. It made its name with titanium, sapphire-crystal tool watches sold direct to consumer and built for real-world use rather than for display. The Venture, with its angular 38mm titanium case, is the model that laid the foundations of that identity: a modern field watch, light, rugged and deliberately compact.

The Field Medic was born in April 2020, at the height of the first wave of Covid-19, from a three-way collaboration. Danny Luís, a Portuguese designer at ESCH Design studio, conceived the concept of an emergency responder's watch. Dr Karan Madan, a physician in India, supplied the pulse and respiratory rate calculation scales. Leon Leong brought the technical foundation and production. Placed in quarantine for two days at Singapore's National Centre for Infectious Diseases as a suspected case, he turned the project into a personal commitment, completing development in under a month.

The charitable element is built into the model. Thirty dollars per watch sold are donated to Covid-19 funds: the Singapore Red Cross, Médecins Sans Frontières and its crisis fund, The Invictus Fund. Launched at 299 dollars, the Field Medic was praised by the specialist press for its titanium, sapphire and 200-metre combination at that price, and Fratello ranked the second version among the most legible pulsometers on the market. The reviews published on the brand's site come, notably, from an emergency physician, a pharmacist and a former US Army 68W medic.

The BOLDR Venture Field Medic military watch

Derived from the Venture, the Field Medic inherits its angular case with a non-reflective satin finish, a choice that limits glare in the field. The 38mm titanium case stays discreet on the wrist, with a thickness of 12.2 mm and a 44mm lug-to-lug that allow it to be worn under a scrub sleeve or fatigues. Titanium, light and hypoallergenic, changes everything for a watch meant for twelve-hour shifts: several wearers, doctors and nurses among them, describe it as almost unnoticeable. Legibility is the other priority. The printed matte dial is protected by a flat sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating, and both the hour markers and hands carry Japanese Superlume for night reading.

A date window rounds out the toolkit, useful when timestamping notes or filling in a patient chart. Finally comes the feature that gives the model its name. Two graduated scales frame the dial: a calibrated pulsometer over thirty pulsations and a respiratory scale. Start the chronograph, count the indicated number of beats, stop it, and the central hand points directly to the value per minute. BOLDR recommends the thirty-second window, more reliable than the fifteen-second one. With 200m water resistance, the watch takes repeated hand-washing and damp environments without any hesitation.

Seven variants on a shared base

The Field Medic series comes in seven versions that share the same architecture. The first, Field Medic I, displays a printed matte black dial and is now distinguished by an engraved caseback blending topographic contour lines, the Star of Life and an EKG trace incorporating the brand's logo. The Field Medic II carries a matte white dial, with revised luminescence on the hands. The Field Medic III is the only one to receive the Protectr™ antimicrobial coating on its case, beneath a sunburst blue dial, which explains its higher price. The Field Medic IV, launched for the series' first anniversary, goes with a sunburst grey.

Next come two camouflage dials, the Camo-Green with its matching date disc, and the Salamander with its black and yellow pattern inspired by the fire salamander. The Stealth, finally, is the only one with a black PVD titanium case, paired with green lume. All run on the same SII VK64 calibre, a Japanese meca-quartz chronograph whose chrono hand sweeps the dial like that of a mechanical movement, powered by a 394 SR936 battery. All are delivered on a nylon NATO strap with titanium buckles, easy to rinse and replace. The price stays the same across versions, with the sole exception of the third.

BOLDR Venture Field Medic military watch: the caregiver's instrument

The BOLDR Venture Field Medic packs into a 38mm titanium case everything expected of a field tool watch: flat anti-reflective sapphire crystal, 200-metre water resistance, screw-down crown and caseback, Japanese Superlume and an SII VK64 meca-quartz chronograph. Its distinguishing feature lies in the two scales printed on the dial, a pulsometer over thirty pulsations and a respiratory scale, which make it a genuine measuring instrument for caregivers and rescuers. Seven dial variants cover every use, from matte black to camouflage. The warranty runs for thirty months, and part of the sale price goes to charity.

01

Movement

The Field Medic is powered by the SII VK64 calibre, a Japanese meca-quartz chronograph that pairs a mechanical chronograph module with a quartz base: the central hand sweeps the dial smoothly and resets with a sharp snap, as on a traditional chronograph. The dial features a 60-minute counter, a small seconds subdial, a 24-hour counter and a date window. Power comes from a 394 SR936 battery. As a result of this architecture, there is no running seconds hand: the seconds only move once the chronograph is engaged.

Diameter and materials

The 38mm titanium case has a non-reflective satin finish, with a thickness of 12.2 mm and a 44mm lug-to-lug that keep the watch compact. The crystal is flat sapphire with an anti-reflective coating and the screw-down caseback is engraved with artwork designed for the series. On the dial side, the palette ranges from matte black and white to sunburst grey and blue, through to green camouflage and Salamander; the Stealth gets a black PVD, the third version the Protectr™ coating.

Water resistance

With 200m / 20 ATM water resistance, the Field Medic goes well beyond what hospital or field use demands. Its sealing relies on a screw-down crown engraved with the BOLDR logo and on a screwed caseback, two elements that allow repeated hand-washing, rain, mud and swimming without particular care. The hour markers and hands fitted with Japanese Superlume keep their legibility in water and in the dark of a night shift.

Accessories

The watch ships on a nylon NATO strap fitted with titanium buckles designed for the model, a choice suited to professional use: it rinses off, swaps out in seconds and dries quickly. The 20mm lug width also opens up a wide range of aftermarket straps, from rubber for clinical settings to leather for dressier occasions. BOLDR does not detail the box contents on its product page.

05

Warranty

BOLDR applies an in-house formula called “30/30”: 30 days of returns after receipt and a 30-month warranty on the internal movement components. This coverage excludes external wear, so scratches on the case, lugs or crystal, and it does not cover straps, considered consumables. The brand's FAQ also mentions a two-year period on the same movement, an internal contradiction on the site that is worth clarifying before any purchase.
